Sutter Health offers clinical clerkships at multiple campus locations to medical students enrolled in United States medical schools or schools accredited by the LCME (Liaison Committee for Medical Education).
Who We Are
The Department of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) was created in January 2018 to address the growing interest that both local medical schools and Sutter providers have in clinical education at sites of excellence such as Sutter. The team consists of Peter Broderick, MD, MEd, CPE, Director for Undergraduate Medical Education, Kristin Hallmark, MBA, Director of Physician Services, and Wendy Huynh, MHA, Coordinator for Medical Student on-boarding.
Student must come from a school where Sutter Health has an active affiliation, or a request for an affiliation must be completed prior to precepting commitment. (See our current list of affiliations below).
UME do not provide clinical preceptors for Students. It is University’s sole responsibility to separately arrange for any clinical preceptorship. We onboard Medical Students and Advanced Practice Clinician students that will be precepting or rotating with Sutter Medical Foundation affiliated Medical Groups.
We onboard an array of specialties/department:
- Family Medicine
- Internal Medicine
- Occupational Health
- Urgent Care
- Women’s health
- And more…
Once a preceptor has been identified, please contact our Student Clerkship Coordinator at least 30 days lead time to make the necessary on-boarding arrangements.
