Applicants should have completed an accredited internship and two additional years of internal medicine residency training by the time of enrollment in the fellowship program. Applicants should have taken and passed the USMLE parts 1 and 2. The applicant must be in good standing in the medical community and must be able to obtain a California license to practice Medicine.
Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). All positions are filled through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), without exception.
All applications are reviewed carefully and thoughtfully. All aspects of the application packet are given equal weight. In your personal statement, please provide us with details of your career goals and how you envision your fellowship unfolding to help you reach your desired endpoint. Please also share what motivates you as a physician and person.
Interviews are by invitation only. Following the review of your application, you will be notified as to whether you have been selected for an interview. Interviews are conducted during the months of September and October.
ERAS have implemented specific instructions regarding the upcoming residency application process. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruptive changes to all aspects of medical education. We will address two aspects of our program in response to the pandemic:
- Interviews and selection process
We will be conducting an entirely virtual selection process. This includes virtual interviews and virtual tours. Invited applicants will receive a special and customized link to a website with more information about our program. - Medical education and conferences
We have implemented socially-distant 12:00 pm conferences that are both in-person and online. We are proud that our educational activities have not been adversely affected due to the pandemic.
