Residency Awards and Post Graduate Experience
The California Pacific Medical Center Psychiatry Residency Training Program draws residents from around the United States. This diversity of backgrounds adds to the cultural variety experienced while in San Francisco. Graduates from California Pacific Medical Center Psychiatry Residency Training Program usually stay on the West Coast. In the last five years, 35% have pursued fellowships, 20% each have joined university-based or private-hospital based mental health clinics, 13% have joined community private psychiatry practice groups and 12% have chosen to work for the State of California prison system. Looking back over a two decades, many graduates have remained involved with the Psychiatry Department in clinical and teaching roles as attendings, supervisors and instructors for residents and medical students.
