About the Program
Its deep history of commitment to teaching and the progressive nature of this program foster an environment suitable for residency learning and training, allowing the residents to pursue their areas of professional interest. California Pacific Medical Center is at the forefront of healthcare services and research, offering new challenges and opportunities for developing and improving professional skills to provide care to a diverse patient group, and to collaborate with other healthcare providers to promote optimal use of medications and patient safety.
This residency program is accredited by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) offering two residency positions annually. Its learning experiences are designed to accommodate the interests and training needs of each participant. Preceptors guide the residents through their clinical experiences on each rotation. Residents are active participants on the clinical management teams allowing them to gain experiences to become an independent and able practitioner.
The residents will receive teaching and training in quality assurance monitoring and strategies for cost containment. They will be participating and supporting interdepartmental activities and committee work including meetings and projects associated with various hospital pharmacy committees. Teaching will emphasize problem identification and solving after careful and thoughtful analysis. The residents will have opportunities to learn and improve their communication skills that will be an asset to their professional career.
