Ryan Stice, PharmD, BCPS has served as the Vice President of Pharmacy for Sutter Health since 2019. The Vice President, Pharmacy Services is a highly visible, system-level position with accountability to execute Sutter’s pharmacy strategic plan, encompassing the vision for pharmacy clinical services, specialty pharmacy services, centralized logistics, centralized inventory management, and pharmacy analytics, 340B, supply chain, operations and IS support.

Sutter Health is comprised of 24 hospitals, 53,000 employees, 5,500 physician members of Sutter Medical Network, 4,259 licensed general acute care beds, 36 ambulatory surgery centers, 33 urgent care centers, as well as various cardiac, cancer, trauma, and behavioral health centers. Areas served include the San Francisco Bay Area, Central Valley, Greater Sacramento Valley, Marin County, Sierra foothills and Santa Cruz. During his tenure at Sutter Health, since 2014, Ryan established a post-graduate residency program, achieving national accreditation in 2018, and expanded clinical pharmacy programs including outpatient Oncology pharmacist integration into the care team, emergency medicine pharmacist roles, and significant expansion of medication reconciliation services. Ryan led a team that created a pharmacy design standard for the system to meet all regulatory requirements for construction projects across 37 pharmacy locations in the system.
Prior to Sutter Health Ryan was with Centura Health for 20 years, based in Denver, Colorado, where he served 12 years as a large Medical Center Director of Pharmacy and as a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Intensive Care and anticoagulation, prior to entering leadership roles. During this time he directed the operational, clinical, regulatory, and financial performance of three hospital departments, an inpatient pharmacy, outpatient retail and hospice pharmacy, and an ambulatory pharmacy clinic.
Ryan has 27 years of comprehensive experience with not-for-profit health systems in California and Colorado, ranging from acute care, ambulatory infusion, outpatient pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, ambulatory surgery centers, and medical practice clinic settings. Ryan has co-authored published articles on anticoagulation and peer review of research and served as the co-chair of a regional IRB for four years.
