Choosing the right doctor is a big deal. This is why we’re providing you online access to our patient satisfaction scores, in the form of easy-to-compare star ratings. The star ratings are calculated using responses from mailed and emailed surveys sent to patients by an independent surveyor, NRC Health, shortly after their visit. We use this feedback to continuously improve the quality of our care and the services offered. You can use these star ratings to help you choose the doctor that's right for you. To ensure we are providing the most accurate and up-to-date information, star ratings only appear after a doctor has at least 30 completed patient surveys, so you may see doctors without a star rating yet.
Sutter Health measures aspects of your satisfaction with the care you receive at any of our facilities through regulated Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems surveys (CAHPS). CAHPS surveys ask consumers and patients to report on and evaluate their healthcare experiences. Survey standards are administered by the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services). Surveys cover topics important to consumers and focus on those aspects of quality that consumers are best qualified to assess. The star rating is calculated based on the responses to questions related to the care patients receive, using an industry-standard conversion method, with data from the past 24-month period. This converted star rating is based on the following CAHPS survey questions pertaining to the patient’s direct interaction with the doctor:
- What number (from 0-10) would you use to rate this provider?
- Did the physician explain things in a way that was easy to understand?
- Did the physician listen carefully to you?
- Did the physician seem to know important information about your medical history?
- Did the physician show respect for what you had to say?
- Did the physician spend enough time with you?
It is our mission to provide our patients with an exceptional experience, every time. We know there is a lot of information available online, but hope the added transparency of ratings from actual verified patients makes your search for a great doctor even easier.
